Because He Came...

Longtime no see blog. Well I'm back at it, and hopefully back more regularly with my new 2012 goals. Well this below is part of a message I sent to my amazing EFY gal's from this summer as a little christmas thought and letter. I found it rather fitting to use it in a little Christmas blog post. Christmas miracles do happen...other than the bulls beating out the Lakers by one point. Any ways back to the little excerpt of my message...which is actually more from President Thomas S. Monson's Christmas Devotional. Anyway here it is...

I wanted to start off with a portion of President Monson's Christmas Devotional. It was such a beautiful message and just incase you didn't get a chance to hear it...well here's just one of my favorite passages.

"Because He came to earth, we have a perfect example to follow. As we strive to become more like Him, we will have joy and happiness in our lives and peace each day of the year. It is His example which, if followed, stirs within us more kindness and love, more respect and concern for others.

Because He came, there is meaning to our mortal existence.

Because He came, we know how to reach out to those in trouble or distress, wherever they may be.

Because He came, death has lost its sting, the grave its victory. We will live again because He came.

Because He came and paid for our sins, we have the opportunity to gain eternal life.

Because He came, we are gathered tonight to worship Him, in bonds of brotherhood and love.

May His precious Spirit be with us, and may He ever be the center of our celebrations and indeed of our very lives."

As we draw nearer to this Christmas season I would just like to remind you of our Savior and his infinite atonement. Although you may sometimes feel abandoned or alone, remember, He suffered alone in Gesthemane & on the cross so that you will never have to. Turn to Him and help others around you find Him. I know that you're life will be filled with so much love and joy as you do so. Heavenly Father saved the world by sending His Son to earth through his earthly mother, Mary. He also sent each one of you to this earth to change and touch the many lives around you. When Heavenly Father wants to change the world He doesn't use drastic measures he uses children. Each one of you are a child of God and have so many lives around you to touch, please live worthy so that you may be an instrument in His hand, you can bring about so much good as you live in tune with the Holy Ghost.

I have just one more thought, actually more of a challenge. After reading the passage from the President Monson's message, take time to pray and study your scriptures and then get out a piece of paper or your journal and finish the sentence "Because He came....." Complete as many sentences as you can as they come to your mind and heart. I know you will feel of the Saviors love and come to recognize so many more blessings in your life, and most importantly you will come to more clearly see the personal relationship and love your Savior has for you individually. He came to earth as the Son of Mary, in Bethlehem, but He is much more than that, He is our Savior, our older bother and our Redeemer. May we all take the time to draw nearer to Him now and always.

Because He came we can return to our Father in Heaven.

Because He came we can be forgiven of our sins.

Because He came we know how to love others and how to serve those around us.

Because He came we can be sealed to our families for time and all eternity.

Because He came He knows how to help and comfort us.

Because He came we can find hope and joy in this life.

These are just a quick few, the list could go on forever but just know this Christmas season that you are loved not only by me but by your Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ, the prince of peace.

With great love,
Brittany

Merry Christmas kiddos!
